The Wapsa Village
The awesomeness of this village of Wapsa are its people. Life here is beyond your wildest imagination – extremely remote, hard and risky, but that doesn’t stop people in this village to live to their fullest, it doesn’t stop them from smiling. They were very friendly and extremely cooperative among themselves, which is needed to survive in these conditions.
This village is in a landslide prone face of the hill. Some houses of this village is situated on a precarious slope.There has been several landslide triggered by the big earthquake- most of these landslides are working their way up to the top of the village. If these landslides connect at the top of the village, it would be a disaster. Let us all pray for them for this monsoon!

Gopal- one of our strongest porter! At Base Camp, we gave him a 20 lt jerry can to fetch water from the glacier and fill the 60 lts barrel in our kitchen tent- he refused because that would be 3 trips. So instead he took the 60 lts barrel and filled it up with water from the glacier and carried it in one go to our camp at 5100m!!!
